somewhat of an addict

See this plant? It is a beautiful plant. Hello, my name is Danielle and I am the Jack Kevorkian of the plant world.

I have recently had to come to terms with the fact that I CANNOT have dairy. The Intolerance, as it where, has become more severe and I have had to give up some foods that I do in fact love.
Bye Bye ice cream.
Bye Bye cheese of any kind.
Bye Bye yogurt.
Bye Bye Fatty McFatterson Key Lime Cheesecake.

It has been about 10 years since the insidious Intolerance began. And since my mother now has Celiac Disease and my grandmother died of colon cancer and because I have a recurring nightmare of lilac-colored poo bags, I have given up The Dairy.

Which brings me to this...

I have such a love affair with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil and because we live in the economic times we do, and despite me being wanted in four states for botanical homicide, I went out and purchased a basil plant. I have managed to keep this basil plant alive for AN ENTIRE WEEK, people! But what incentive could I possibly now have to keep this diminutive representation of "Anything Is Possible, I Am Woman - Hear Me Roar" alive if I can't, for the love of all that is holy, eat mozzarella cheese?

This plant's days are numbered...

Pesto. I'll be rooting for you and the plant. First off, in a couple of weeks, get it in a larger pot. Keep me posted, we are gardening central over here.

Don't do it! Step away from the cheese lady, especially with a history like that. If it's any help you won't miss it at all! Im on 8 months now since I went vegan..I think.

Anywhoo, yes PESTO, like the comment above said. Perfect. And just throwing into spagettie, etc. Good job on keeping it alive for a week! I think that amazing light flooding the window might have something to do with it. Beautiful shot!!
xxoo,

You have nothing on me, Mama. I killed a cactus. A CACTUS!! You tell me that something doesn't need watering for 2 weeks, and I'll forget. I have to have the routine of watering in order to remember.

Basil is a plant?! :)
