We had a lovely weekend. We kicked off Friday at the beach. I was more than a little anxious about the crowds on the 4th of July but Chris pushed on (thankfully) and we went anyway. Arrived around 10:30 and were greeted by a line of cars but were pleasantly surprised with the parking spot and our place on the beach. Lucy was clamoring to go in the water and twice had to be chased down before she threw herself in, while we were trying to set up the umbrella and chairs. The kid is a fish and she doesn't yet know how to swim. MUST get that child into swim lessons, fast. There was a fierce rip tide but we still took turns in the water. Charlie is not a fan of the waves. He followed me down to fill up a bucket of water and didn't listen when I asked that he stay in one spot while I waded in. He got taken out by the tiniest wave and that was it for him. Took a while to calm him down.

We built sand castles

took naps
and dug tunnels, shook out the beach blanket 247 times, ate lunch, jumped the waves, and lived in our own little world on that beach until about 5:30.
Our shoulders were getting a tad pink and we hadn't planned on enjoying ourselves so much so I hadn't packed dinner and we headed home. Lucy fell asleep in the car and we were unable to wake her properly until 7:30. Threw the kids in the bath, dried hair, brushed teeth and headed out to the front yard, in hopes some of the neighbors would be setting off illegal fireworks. Boy, did we ever get a show! Seems our hilltop neighbors used their stimulus check and more and bought the semi-professional fireworks this year. We had an excellent view and sat in awe for half an hour with the kids. A perfect ending to a perfect day. I do hope we'll be able to repeat it next year.
Saturday was spent running errands and cleaning up the house a bit. I think I passed out around 9:30 PM. Party. Animal.
Sunday was cooler so we went to the zoo for the day. The Los Angeles Zoo does not have the best layout but we enjoyed ourselves. We arrived in time to see the Gorilla feeding. Very exciting. Had one of THOSE lunches where the kids won't eat, just want to play and jump up out of their seats ever 10 seconds. Meandered around and hung out at the Orangutan enclosure for quite some time. Headed home for naps and dinner. This time I fell asleep at 8:30 and am paying for that now (3:30 AM).
Today? It is our 7th anniversary! Happy Anniversary Love~

AWESOME days! I cannot believe Charlie napped at the beach like that!! I tip my hat to you (or whatever the mom equivalent would be... floppy sun hat?). I know he is a great napper, but my daughter would NEVER relax enough to nap with so much going on. I love the fact that your day was capped off with illegal fireworks for 1/2 an hour. You just can't script a better day!
